Who works on your car
Precision Autoworks UK is a Glasgow garage that does the lot under one roof: engine remapping, vehicle security, cameras and sensors, and the diagnostic work around them. It is all done here, by us, rather than passed to somebody else — and there is more on the way.
The workshop is at 85 Bogmoor Road, across from the Shieldhall test centre, with easy access to the M8, the city centre and the airport. Having our own unit rather than working out of a van shapes how we work: the ramp, the equipment and the paperwork are all here. For a lot of jobs we can also come to you — ask, and we will tell you whether yours is one of them.
Security systems are fitted here, tested with the monitoring centre here, and the paperwork is handled here. Remaps are cut on our own equipment during our file provider's hours, so the map is written for your car rather than pulled off a shelf.
Mechanical fitting is the one thing we currently send elsewhere. There is no in-house mechanic yet, so on a Stage 2 job you get the hardware fitted by someone we trust and bring the car to us for the software. We would rather say that than have you find out on the day.
How we work
- Diagnostics before tuning, every time. If a car has a fault, writing a map on top of it hides the fault rather than fixing it, so we deal with that first or we do not proceed.
- A 100-amp battery support unit on every job. Voltage dropping part way through a write is how ECUs get bricked, and it is the most common way a cheap remap goes wrong.
- A USB backup of your original file, if you want one, so the car can go back to how it left the factory.
- Before-and-after figures taken on your own car, rather than a number off a chart.
Training and accreditations
Five organisations back the work on this site: the IMI, The OBD Company, MASSA, ScorpionTrack and Gecko Track. Every one of them has issued us paperwork, and all nine certificates are on our certifications page.
