Fleet tracking puts every van and car you run on one screen: live location, trip history, driver behaviour, and remote immobilisation on the systems that support it. It is priced on the fleet rather than per vehicle, because no two fleets need the same thing.
Fleet tracking puts a unit in every vehicle you run and puts all of them on one screen. You get live location, trip history, driver behaviour, and on the systems that support it, the ability to immobilise a vehicle remotely.
The difference from a consumer tracker is less the hardware than what sits on top of it: one login covering the whole fleet, reports you can hand to somebody, and a record of where a vehicle actually was on a given afternoon.
That record is usually what pays for it. Disputed timesheets, a customer certain nobody turned up, fuel spend nobody can account for: all of them turn into a question with an answer.
Trades running vans, couriers and delivery operators, plant and equipment hire, taxi and private hire operators, and any business where the vehicles are the business rather than a way of getting to it.
It starts to make sense from about three vehicles upward. Below that a consumer tracker on each one is usually the cheaper answer and we will say so.
Last-mile delivery contractors are a case of their own. If you run a rented or leased fleet against a carrier's contract, the vehicles are rarely yours, the drivers change, and you are answerable for both — so what matters is proof of where a van was, and getting a replacement unit fitted the same week you take another vehicle on. We can work to that rather than to a fixed install date.
It also matters where vehicles carry tools worth more than the van. Remote immobilisation on a stolen vehicle is a different conversation from recovering it a week later, empty.
We start by looking at what you actually run and what you need out of it, because a six-van operation that wants theft cover and a twenty-van operation that needs driver reports are different specifications and pretending otherwise wastes your money.
Fitting is scheduled around you. Vehicles can come in a few at a time so you are never off the road, and the units go in concealed and wired into each vehicle's own loom.
Once they are in we set the platform up with you: geofences, alerts, who sees what. Then we make sure whoever is going to use it day to day can actually use it before we leave it with you.
The work is done by an IMI-approved technician trained by The OBD Company, on dealer-level tools rather than a generic cable.
We are an authorised installer for Gecko Track and for ScorpionTrack, both of which run proper fleet platforms rather than a consumer app with more vehicles in it. Which one suits you depends on the size of the fleet and what you need to get out of it.
Remote immobilisation is available on several systems and is not exclusive to any one of them, so we will recommend on fit rather than on what we happen to stock.
Fitting is done at our unit at 85 Bogmoor Road in Glasgow, across from the Shieldhall test centre, by an IMI-approved technician. For a fleet that means the vehicles come to us in batches you choose.
It depends on how many vehicles you run, which system suits you, and what you need from the platform, so we quote it rather than list it. Tell us the fleet size and what you are trying to solve and we will come back with a figure.
On the systems that support it, yes. It is not something every tracker does, so tell us if it matters to you and we will specify for it.
No. The unit is fitted and works on its own. If you want driver identification on top of that, tags can be added, but the basic tracking needs nothing from them.
Yes, and most people do. The platform takes vehicles as you add them, so there is no need to fit everything at once.
Tell us what is fitted and we will look at whether it can join the same platform. Sometimes it can, often it is cleaner to standardise, and we will be straight with you about which.
A fleet tracker is a management tool: where the vehicle is, where it has been, how it is being driven, all on one screen for you to use. An insurance-approved tracker — Thatcham Category S5 or S7 — is a theft product: it is monitored around the clock by a monitoring centre, not by you, and a confirmed theft gets police-assisted recovery. Most fleets need the first. You need the second when an insurer has asked for it, which usually means high-value vehicles, and you can check your policy or send us what they wrote and we will tell you which category it names.
Yes, on every tracker we supply and fit. From year two there is an annual subscription that keeps the monitoring running, and what it costs depends on the system — ask us and we will tell you before you commit to anything.
Next step
Tell us what you drive and what you want done to it. We will come back with a price for your car, not a range off a chart.
