Stage 1 Remapping
From £300
Performance
A Stage 2 remap is the software for a car that already has supporting hardware fitted. We write the map around what is actually on your car, and if the hardware is not there we will tell you rather than tune past what the engine can take.
Price From £500
Stage 2 is a calibration written for an engine that can now move more air and get rid of it more easily, because parts have been changed to let it. The parts come first and the software follows them, rather than the other way round.
That usually means a performance exhaust or a decat or downpipe, a high-flow intake, and an upgraded intercooler. On a manual car a reinforced clutch matters too, because the standard one is often the first thing to give up. Cooling and turbo upgrades are not essential but they change what is sensible.
We do the software — the part we are trained, equipped and insured for. Hardware fitting goes to mechanics we work with and trust: we will point you at them, and take the car once the parts are on, so the map is written around what is actually bolted to your engine rather than what was planned for it.
People who have already spent money on hardware and are now running a car that is breathing better than its software expects. That car is not making the most of the parts on it, and the map is the missing piece.
It is also for people who bought a car with the parts already on it. Bring it in and we will find out what is actually fitted before anything gets written, because what a previous owner said was done and what is bolted to the car are not always the same thing.
If nothing has been changed on the car, Stage 2 is the wrong page. A Stage 1 or Stage 1+ map is what a standard car takes, and we would rather send you there than write a map your hardware cannot support.
We go through the hardware with you first, then confirm it on the car. What is fitted decides what the map can safely ask for, so this is the step everything else hangs on.
We run a diagnostics check before anything is written. If the car has a fault, tuning on top of it hides the fault rather than fixing it, so we deal with that first or we don't proceed.
Every job runs on a 100-amp battery support unit. Voltage dropping mid-write is how ECUs get bricked, and it is the single most common way a cheap remap goes wrong.
The map is then written around your specific setup rather than pulled off a shelf. Two cars with the same badge and different downpipes are not the same job.
You can have a USB backup of your original file, so the car can be put back to how it left the factory whenever you want.
Afterwards we test for stability across the rev range, not just at the top of it, and read the fault codes back before you take it away.
Stage 2 is where a careless map does real damage, because the engine is being asked for more and the parts around it vary car to car.
The work is done by an IMI-approved technician trained by The OBD Company, on dealer-level tools rather than a generic cable.
The car comes to our unit at 85 Bogmoor Road in Glasgow, opposite the Shieldhall test centre. We would not write a Stage 2 map anywhere else.
We will turn work down. If the hardware on the car does not support what you are asking for, or the clutch is not up to it, you will hear that before any money changes hands rather than afterwards.
From £500 for the software.
The hardware is not included and we do not fit it. What moves the software price is the ECU: some are written through the car's diagnostic port, others have to come out and be written on the bench. Send the registration and a list of what is fitted and we will price it properly.
A gearbox (TCU) tune can be added for £150, matched to the Stage 2 map rather than sold separately.
Not here. Mechanical fitting is outsourced at the moment, so we do the software and we can point you at fitters we trust for the parts. Get it fitted, then bring it to us.
It depends on the engine and on what you want from it. Typically a performance exhaust or decat or downpipe, a high-flow intake, and an upgraded intercooler, plus a reinforced clutch on a manual. Tell us the car and what is on it and we will tell you what is missing.
Bring it in. We will look at what is on the car and read the ECU before agreeing to anything. Writing a Stage 2 map on the basis of a description in an advert is not something we will do.
Yes, and about both halves. The parts are a modification and so is the map, so make sure the policy covers what is on the car and what has been written to it. The article below covers the remap side.
We will read what is on it first and tell you straight whether there is anything worth doing. We cannot vouch for a file we did not write, so we will not simply build on top of one.
The software can, if you take the USB backup of your original file. The hardware is a separate matter and whoever fitted it would need to take it off.

Tell us what you drive and what you want done to it. We will come back with a price for your car, not a range off a chart.
